William D. "Bill" Lee passed away on August 11, 2010 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Prevatt) Lee in 2008. Bill was born in Valdosta, Georgia on November 9, 1919 to Robert and Hesta Lena Lee. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines. William D. "Bill" Lee passed away on August 11, 2010 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Prevatt) Lee in 2008. Bill was born in Valdosta, Georgia on November 9, 1919 to Robert and Hesta Lena Lee. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines. Upon the surrender of the Philippines to Japan, he was taken prisoner and survived the Bataan Death March and internment in Japanese POW camps until the end of the war in 1945. After being recalled to active duty during the Korean War, he continued his military career in the Air Force until his retirement as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1975. As a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, he was highly decorated including receiving the Bronze Star. Bill is survived by his sister, Eloise Wiggins of Macclenny, Florida; daughter, Cheryl Klohe and her husband, Scott Otteson of Hudson, Washington; daughter, Cynthia Johnson and her husband, Dan of Liberty Lake, Washington; and sixteen grandchildren and great grandchildren. His ashes will be inurned at Pines Cemetery with his wife, Mary. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 11:00AM at the Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
